Short while ago google had changed their ranking algorithm, in the hope of offering it’s search users better results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in another word, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. Google started this change almost one year ago, no wonder I saw a few of my keywords’ ranks dropped like a rock, but almost all the ranks promoted by articles and blog posts were not affected, and a few of them even gained a few positions, it’s almost a sure thing that plain link building loses all it’s attraction, at least in the eye of google.
What is old way of link building any way? a lot of marketing companies did and are doing the plain link building, they will get links from any websites which accept adding links, these websites will only be updated when new links are being added, and most of them are useless, the name link spamming are just for these sites. The latest google update will definitely downgrade most if not all of these sites, any links on them will be affected too.
Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started promote the keyword, Towing Chains, of course with old way of link building, almost all the sites I got link from had too many links, and the worst thing is that those sites are linking sites only and had no content, not even crap content. This strategy worked in the beginning, finally the rank improved a lot, this was the case until google made the change. Now let’s look at another keyword, chain puller , we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, almost no plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. Now contextual links win the battle, then what? It all boils down to content, when you create unique and quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it?
